Psalm 100:4 “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.”
When we come before God with our prayers we come to worship Him. The psalmist says to enter His gates with thanksgiving. In other words, instead of complaining or coming with our prayer request to start praying we are to start with thanksgiving. To thank God for all His goodness. His goodness of waking us up every morning, giving us food, shelter, a job and we can go on to thank Him. So, remember we thank our God for His goodness.
Secondly we enter His courts with praise. That after we’ve entered His gates we go further into His courts. Praises are to reveal His greatness. We praise Him for being the mighty God who protects us, gives us miracles and we praise Him for His greatness. He is the great God. The creator of heaven and earth. So when you praise Him, you do it for His greatness.
Then we worship Him. Our worship to God is for His holiness. Psalm 96:9 “Worship the Lord in the splendour of His holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth.” This is where we bow before His holiness, where we show reverence that we honour Him. We have the fear of the Lord. Not the fear of being afraid to go to hell no! but the fear of honour and respect. For He is our God.
It is this God we serve. Thanking Him for His goodness, praising Him for His greatness and worshipping Him for His holiness. All this given by the grace of our Lord Jesus.
