governmentLet us as a nation pray for our government if we are not doing it. It is very important to pray for the government as it is a directive from God in the Bible. It is our responsibility. Because the Government consists and is put together by human beings. They are not super humans.

The argument may arise that a person is not in agreement with the government of today. That in itself does not change the instruction that we must pray. In Timothy 1:4 “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

Kings and all those who are in authority. These are the people who govern: the state President, cabinet, ministers, members of Parliament, Premiers, MEC’s, local municipalities etc.

When we pray we are promised that we will have a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty.

I realise most of us look at the laws of the country to solve the problems. The only real problem is, we can have laws but the heart is the problem. You see if a person’s heart does not change, no law can change it. It is a spiritual change and transformation that must take place.

Can you identify with this? and talk to other Christians to start praying. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. But if the Prince of Peace is not allowed in the government, how can we have peace?
